Understand a published reference
Banco de México calculates FIX from wholesale exchange-market quotations on banking days. That published reference has its own timetable and purpose. It is not a promise that a bank, money changer or transfer provider will give you the same price. When a current reference is available here, use the conversion to estimate value before checking a provider’s complete offer.
Confirm what the bill means
If a hotel or supplier gives you a price marked only with $, ask whether it is MXN or USD. For a peso payment, compare the MXN due to arrive with the total leaving your account, including fees. Keep the currency and payment method the same across quotes.
Does the FIX rate include my transfer fee?
No. A published reference and your provider’s payment charges are separate. Read the final quote for both.
Should I enter pesos or centavos?
Enter pesos. An amount of 125.50 MXN means 125 pesos and 50 centavos.
